Type sets the tone before a word is read

Typography is the accent your brand speaks in. Choose it on purpose.

People think they don’t notice typography. They notice it constantly — they just file it under a feeling. A brand can look expensive or cheap, modern or dated, warm or cold, entirely before anyone reads a sentence. That’s type doing its work.

It’s the closest thing a brand has to a voice you can see. A tall, tight grotesque sounds confident and contemporary. A high-contrast serif sounds editorial and considered. A rounded sans sounds friendly. Choose without thinking and you’ll accidentally sound like something you’re not.

A pairing is a relationship

Most brands need two or three typefaces that get along: one with personality for headlines, one that disappears politely in body text, sometimes a third for accents. The skill isn’t picking fashionable fonts — it’s picking ones that do different jobs without fighting. Two loud faces in the same system is two people talking over each other.

Then give every size a job

Type only becomes a system when it has rules: what a heading is, what a label is, how big body text runs, how much it breathes. That’s what stops a brand looking slightly different on every page made by every person. Consistency here is invisible when it’s right and glaring when it’s wrong.

Pick type for the accent you want to speak in — then hold the line everywhere. It’s quietly one of the highest-leverage decisions in the whole identity.

Let’s build yours.
